Crypto Race 2026: Halloween Turns Red as Osmosis Emerges from the Shadows

Update as of 31 October 2026

Red dominates this Halloween edition: twelve of the fourteen tracked assets fell over the week. Only Lava and Osmosis bucked the trend, gaining 14.50% and 8.13% respectively.

Yet these two rebounds tell very different stories. Lava remains deeply down since January, while Osmosis continues its recovery and takes second place in Category 1.

CAT 1: Osmosis reshuffles the podium

Asset Weekly change Since inception, without staking
AKT −10.55% +46.34%
OSMO +8.13% −1.50%
TAO −5.24% −4.04%
BTC −4.29% −14.23%
ALGO −9.13% −24.91%
ATOM −8.22% −28.11%
ETH −5.15% −28.36%
AVAX −4.29% −38.16%

Ranked by cumulative price-only performance since 3 January.

Osmosis: three weeks to change the picture

OSMO is the standout story of this edition. Its price rose from $0.0347 on 10 October to $0.0519 on 31 October, a gain of 49.57% in three weeks.

Having overtaken Bitcoin and Algorand in the previous snapshot, Osmosis now moves ahead of Bittensor. It sits in second place, behind Akash.

Its loss since inception has narrowed to 1.50%. A further rise of approximately 1.52% would bring it back to its starting price, excluding rewards.

Akash stays ahead as Bittensor slips into the red

Akash retains a comfortable lead but has not escaped the sell-off: down 10.55% over the week. Its cumulative return falls from +63.59% to +46.34%.

Bittensor drops 5.24%, taking its return since inception to −4.04%. AKT is now the only asset in Category 1 still positive without staking.

Bitcoin remains fourth, down 14.23% since January, ahead of Algorand, ATOM, Ethereum and Avalanche.

ATOM and Ethereum are almost level: just 0.25 percentage points separate them, with ATOM slightly ahead. Avalanche sits at the bottom on −38.16%.

CAT 2: Lava rebounds, Nolus holds the lead

Asset Weekly change Since inception, without rewards
NLS −1.40% −3.26%
GNO −4.80% −21.38%
BAND −2.84% −43.23%
FLUX −6.91% −43.31%
CTK −16.76% −65.88%
LAVA +14.50% −90.72%

Ranked by cumulative price-only performance since 3 January.

Nolus remains comfortably ahead in its category despite a weekly decline of 1.40%. Its cumulative return stands at −3.26%, with every asset in the category trading below its starting price.

Lava delivers the strongest weekly gain across the entire selection: +14.50%. Nevertheless, its cumulative loss still exceeds 90%. A sharp rebound from a very low base can coexist with a substantial loss over the year.

At the other end of the spectrum, CTK records the largest weekly decline, falling 16.76%.

Meanwhile, BAND edges ahead of FLUX on price-only performance: just 0.08 percentage points separate them. Rewards can change that order, but the price-only race between the two remains exceptionally close.

Rewards soften some of the scares

Accumulated rewards can make a difference around the break-even point. Here is a selection of estimated results using the simulation’s historical annual rates:

Asset Without rewards With estimated rewards
AKT +46.34% +60.23%
OSMO −1.50% +2.48%
TAO −4.04% −0.41%
NLS −3.26% −0.02%
BTC −14.23% −13.56%

Osmosis returns to positive territory in this scenario. Bittensor remains slightly negative, while Nolus is virtually at break-even.

Staking cushions declines but does not automatically erase them. Its contribution must always be considered alongside the token’s price performance.

These estimates assume 301 days of daily compounding at annual rates of 11% for AKT, 4.8% for OSMO, 4.5% for TAO, 4% for NLS and 0.95% for BTC. These are theoretical returns, not rewards actually received. The BTC scenario does not represent native staking. As the CSV files contain prices only, the full ranking including rewards remains to be confirmed, particularly for FLUX.

Who is beating Bitcoin?

AKT, OSMO, TAO and NLS outperform Bitcoin, both on price alone and in the reward estimates shown above.

But beating Bitcoin and finishing in positive territory remain two separate goals. This Halloween, several competitors are ahead of the benchmark while still showing a loss since January.

Above all, Osmosis reminds us that rankings are never fixed: a few weeks can be enough to turn a substantial deficit into a podium position.

Beating Bitcoin temporarily is common; doing so consistently is another story.

Sources and methodology: prices are collected from various platforms every Saturday at 00:01 Brussels time, to simulate a weekly market close in a crypto market that trades continuously. This edition compares the snapshots from 24 and 31 October 2026. The Crypto Race simulates an initial investment of $1,000 per asset on 3 January 2026, with no rebalancing, under two scenarios: price-only performance and performance including simulated staking or other yields. AKT’s corrected starting price is $0.423.
