Crypto Race 2026: a week in the red, Osmosis bucks the trend

Update as of October 24, 2026 — USD returns, excluding staking.

This week’s Crypto Race comes down to one observation: 13 of the 14 assets in our selection declined. There were few changes in the rankings, but one exception stands out: Osmosis gained 14.56% and claimed a podium spot in Category 1.

Even in a week dominated by losses, the gaps continue to shift. Some assets are holding up, while others are giving back part of their recent gains.

Category 1: Osmosis climbs, Akash holds firm

RankAssetSince January 3Weekly change
1Akash — AKT+63.59%−0.72%
2Bittensor — TAO+1.27%−8.09%
3Osmosis — OSMO−8.90%+14.56%
4Bitcoin — BTC−10.39%−1.16%
5Algorand — ALGO−17.36%−9.40%
6Cosmos Hub — ATOM−21.67%−4.36%
7Ethereum — ETH−24.47%−2.39%
8Avalanche — AVAX−35.39%−10.43%

Osmosis delivered the standout move of the week. Following its rebound in the previous snapshot, OSMO continued to advance, rising from sixth to third in the ranking excluding staking. It now outperforms Bitcoin since the start of the race, by around 1.49 percentage points.

That does not mean a return to profit: Osmosis is still down 8.90% since January 3. But with almost every asset in our selection falling this week, its performance clearly stands out.

Akash remains comfortably in the lead. Its weekly decline was limited to 0.72%, leaving its return since the start at 63.59%. Bittensor retains second place, but an 8.09% weekly drop brings it close to break-even.

Algorand leaves the podium and slips to fifth place. Avalanche records the largest weekly decline in this category, at −10.43%. ATOM and Ethereum also fall while retaining their respective positions.

Category 2: every asset falls as Nolus slips back into the red

RankAssetSince January 3Weekly change
1Nolus — NLS−1.89%−4.10%
2Gnosis — GNO−17.41%−2.37%
3Flux — FLUX−39.10%−15.56%
4Band Protocol — BAND−41.57%−13.16%
5Shentu — CTK−59.02%−7.92%
6Lava — LAVA−91.90%−3.10%

The rankings remain unchanged, but Nolus falls below its starting level, moving from +2.30% to −1.89%. It nevertheless retains first place and remains the closest to break-even.

The pullback is particularly sharp for Flux and Band, which lose 15.56% and 13.16% respectively over the week. Flux remains third, with its lead over Band narrowing to around 2.47 percentage points.

Gnosis posts the smallest weekly decline in this category. Shentu and Lava remain at the bottom of the rankings, with no change in position.

Beating Bitcoin remains the goal

As of October 24, Akash, Bittensor and Osmosis outperform Bitcoin in Category 1. In Category 2, Nolus also remains ahead of our benchmark.

But outperforming BTC and making a profit are different things: only Akash and Bittensor remain positive since the start, excluding staking, among the fourteen assets tracked.

There was no widespread reshuffling this week, then, but one notable change: Osmosis joins the podium and renews the competition behind the leading pair.

Methodology: returns are calculated from the supplied USD prices between January 3 and October 24, 2026. Weekly changes compare the October 17 and October 24 snapshots. This edition presents returns excluding staking only. The starting reference price used for AKT is $0.423.
